Wine Tasting

With the sun shining and the weather seasonably warm, six friends have come together to go wine tasting. “There's a parking place over there…,” Susan said, parking and slamming her car door. Several other doors slam. “This is the place!”
“But where is the winery?” Tracy asks.
“It’s in the side of the hill,” Susan grins.
“Oh wow, cool!” Cheryl marvels.
The entrance is a wooden arch. It is reinforced with heavy beams and two large oak doors at least ten feet tall. The doors open slowly, not revealing too much and keeping the mystery alive. The friends cautiously step inside. Before them is a hollowed out tunnel, deep enough inside the mountain that you cannot see the end. It smells of damp dirt and freshly cut wood.
“It’s ten degrees cooler in here,” Ann notices as they all move deeper inside.
“The walls are made of stone,” Karen reports. “Feel them! And my heels are sinking into the floor so it must be dirt.”
The big doors creek as they swing shut. The girls turn in abject dread.
“We’re trapped now,” Jan laughs. Just then the ceiling lights up with tiny clear bulbs running along a wire the length of the tunnel. “Oh good, we can see again.”
As the visitors walk deeper into the cave they notice glass partitions separating the tunnel from the giant rooms housing the oak barrels.
They arrive at the end where two young gentlemen are handing out samples of their wares. They are explaining about each type of wine vinified. The girls settle on a bottle of red with a rich robust flavor and hint of a wood.
