2nd Chances Updates and Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends! Additionally, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I'm going to be taking a little break from my daily writing prompts and concentrating on my sequel 2nd Chances: A Book of Treasures. I'm finding I can't fit everything into my schedule this time of year.

ALSO, I'm pleased to announce that in the next 72 hours my novel 2nd Chances: A Book of Choices will be available on NOOK Press. So now you can find it on KINDLE and/or NOOK!

2ND CHANCES: A BOOK OF CHOICES by TD Cooper is available now on Amazon Kindle $2.99 and Createspace paperback $13.99

Imagine a two hundred and fifty year love affair with a guardian angel and the reincarnated soul of his soulmate.

Trevor Brady drowned while pirating on the Caribbean in the 1700’s and was given a chance to redeem his soul. He begins life anew, as a guardian of human beings. Trevor also finds himself in love with what may be the reincarnation of his childhood sweetheart, who was murdered by Trevor’s former ship captain. To make things worse, it looks like the ship’s captain has returned from the grave, bent on taking his revenge on Trevor and all whom he loves. They all collide in the world of kidnapping, drugs, and slavery.

The Writing Process and Snacks

“Laundry folded and put in drawers. Dirty dishes stacked in the dishwasher and turned on. Beds made and toys picked up,” Ellen mumbled through her morning to-do list. “Next up -- a shower, make-up and hair.” By this time she’d blown through the early morning.

She stood in the kitchen, staring at the teapot. Her mind a million miles away, working out the main conflict between the protagonist, antagonist, and the pirate ship they both sailed on. The scene takes place in the early 1700’s, on the Caribbean Sea, with a conflict between the British captain and the slave boy. Ellen sat down at her computer to begin writing. Two seconds later she was up, pacing, her fingers weren’t ready to hammer out the words.

“I need tea and a blueberry scone to get through this chapter,” she muttered throwing up her hands and stomping back to the kitchen.

She filled the teapot and placed it on the stove, completely lost in the story. She pulled out the scones, selecting one and placing it on a napkin, all done unconsciously. No one could talk to her, now, she was in the zone. Events were forming, words were being said, and solutions were finding their end.

Ellen ran back to the computer. Her nimble fingers raced across the keys as each scene clearly rolled through her mind, almost like watching a movie on the big screen. It became a race to put what she saw in the memory banks before it was lost forever.

The teapot whistled in the background, but no one heard…

Opinions...

“People… ‘What is the secret of a happy marriage?’ you ask?” the man in the pulpit stated. He continued, “The Lord of course, you say, but I believe it is many things that have to work together. God, love, respect, communication, and the fore-thought to have similar goals. And after you consider all of those it takes work, hard work, to disagree and find a way through the problems of everyday life. The ups and downs of all things whether it be sex, money, or just living under the same roof. Remember it isn’t always greener on the other side, it’s just more of the same, because it boils down to your choices.” He paused to breathe and then added, “If you are not willing to accept these conditions then you have no business being married or more importantly, bringing children into this union.”
(Can I get an “AMEN!”)

Don't Shoot the Messenger

“Simon, don’t shoot the messenger!” Aryana screamed, jumping back out of the path of his swinging arm. “At least not yet!” she giggled.

“I don’t believe you. Aryana, you sit in that dorm room all alone and you fabricate these scenarios. It has to stop or I’m going to report you to the dean,” Simon fumed.

“Oh, chill out! It was only a little breaking and entering and a kiss. You know when someone is this passionate that means they are on the verge of love,” Aryana said matter of fact, tilting her head, and batting her eyelashes.

“Or they could be thrown in jail for murder,” he muttered. “I don’t love you! Never did! Where is this coming from? I’m your teacher for gawd’s sake!” Simon stared her square in the eye, making sure she heard him this time. “Now get out of my house, before my wife comes home and finds you here. We are expecting a baby and she doesn’t need this stress.”

He turned her around and pushed her out the front door. Aryana drug her feet, “You’ll change your mind, I’ll see to it,” she spun and swore the oath to him.

“I didn’t want to have to do this, but I’ve had papers drawn up. You aren’t allowed to be within one hundred yards of me or my wife, except in class,” Simon handed her a copy. “Stalking is against the law!”

She ripped the document into pieces and threw it back in his face. “We’ll see…” she boiled and left the front stoop.

An hour later he received a phone call. “Simon! Simon, its Pam! That crazy woman just ran me off the road. Luckily I had the police on my speed dial and they intercepted her. She’s in custody,” Pam stopped to breathe.

“Wait! Are you all right… The baby?” he said in a panic.

“Yes…, but the car needs some help,” she said softly. “Come get me,” she whimpered.
