Don't Look Behind You!
Jackie ran for the living room, each step felt heavier than
the last. Her lungs burned from holding her breath as she cowered behind the
high backed chair. The moon came out from behind the cloud and lit the room far
more brightly than she’d hoped. She knew it was behind her. She could hear
nothing and smell the dead decaying corpse. She pushed and pulled at the
curtain, trying to shut out the light. It was too late, the long boney fingers
with unclipped, jagged nails reached over her shoulder and squeezed tight. She
screamed and bolted, but went nowhere.
