If Only

He hadn't seen Max since the day he left in the star ship. He wished he could go back in time to when Max was a sweet, frisky puppy. Max was always so eager to fetch the ball and to learn proper doggie etiquette. If only his job hadn't required him to test the new interstellar transport. If only they hadn't crashed on the outer moon, and if only it hadn't taken him ten years to return. A tear filled his eye when he realized that he had been there when Max was born and now he was here for his death.
