Cursed

Jeff Percy and his family built their dream home in a new development in a quiet community. They’d been living peacefully attending to their daily lives of work, school, and family for a few years when a strange event happened.

 “Jeff did we have an earthquake last night?” Bonnie asked suspiciously. 

“Not that I’ve heard… Why?”

“We have a new crack in the foundation. I can see it going from the patio all the way under the house. See you can see it in the footer, here,” she explained and pointed. They followed the split inside the house and ripped up the carpet.

“That’s not a settling crack that’s a complete separation,” he said standing over the concrete pad in their closet. “I’ll get the builder back out here in the morning.”

Later that night flies arrived in swarms and strange footsteps could be heard walking along the hardwood floors. The opening and slamming of inside doors rattled the home. Strange moaning noises eventually ran the family out to a hotel.

Jeff Percy met the cement guy in the house later the next morning. He was an older man who’d lived in the area for years. As he stood over the fracture he began a story, “Two hundred years ago this land was owned by a doctor who used his isolated house to study people he tortured and killed. He wrote many of the medical theories used today. His motivation was to study how humans were alive, what parts we need and which ones we couldn’t live without. He mapped out the human body, how to surgically remove internal organs, put the parts back, and what drugs were effective. He studied the effects of their suffering medically and psychologically. When they died he burned them in an incinerator in his basement. The worst part was he didn’t care whether they were young or old and he usually tricked his victims into following him home.

I believe the whole family was cursed the day you moved in and you better get out while you can.”
