Blind Date

Writing Prompt

Blind Date
“I don’t have time for a date… I’m never having kids… Why would Mom set-up this rendezvous?” Katniss muttered, as she stalked the deer through the forest. “Never mind, he won’t show up anyway, he’d have to get out of his district and come to Twelve. Who in their right mind would do that?”

The three-point deer moved up-stream. Katniss tracked it making sure she stayed down wind. With her bow and arrow at the ready she stepped softly until the beast was in clear sight and range. She aimed, the arrow flew through the air aimed directly at its target, and disappeared. Katniss screamed...

A beautiful, paled skinned man with bronze thick hair stood. The arrow stuck deep into the back of his shoulder. He broke the tip off and pulled the shafted through and out of his body. No blood or mark remained. He wiped his mouth of the deer’s blood, lifted the dead animal, and threw it over his injured shoulder. “I’m Edward Cullen,” he said with a slight smile.
Katniss’s heart melted! Her stomach growled she knew dinner would be filling tonight.
