Goodbye!
TD Cooper No leaves fluttered on the trees. They’d all fallen and were brown and crumpled on the ground. The sky was filled with clouds and it was as gray as it had been all year. A frail woman lay in her hospital bed, surrounded by windows with her family in attendance. She’d fought the disease for a year, struggling through all the pharmaceutical suggestions by the doctors. She glanced around, “It’s been a long tough battle and I’m tired. I’ve spoken to the priest and made my peace, all that’s left is to say ‘goodbye’.”
Her eyes closed in sleep, but before the day had ended she opened them one last time and looked out the window. “The garden is beautiful today,” she whispered, closing her eyes once again for the last time. At that instance her daughter became the matriarch of the family and would hence forth assume the superior role.
